Photo Friday: Boy in Sweater
I like trolling men's fashion boards on Pinterest, because they provide a nice crop of good-looking men an author can draw from to inspire characters. This one caught my eye this week.
Ooh, god, he's just my type. He looks like an Ivy League douche bag. Yum, I love it. Artfully tousled curls, hint of a smirk, shawl collar sweater, standing on the beach; who is this guy? What's he doing there? Who is he with? Who took the photo?
I love college boys. I think it might give me away a little bit, how often I write college stories; I'm fresh out of college myself, and I find my characters tend to trail me by a year or two in age. They are getting older, though! A few years ago my boys were all in high school, trying out for Varsity soccer and getting their drivers' licenses. Now they're old enough to drink and get into trouble without their parents. Soon they'll be living at home again, trying to find a job in their field and reminding themselves that they don't need a career yet.
Whoops, got a little personal there.
Does age play a factor in the romances you choose to read? Do you catch yourself writing characters in the same bracket?
